Tiny Lesson #2
by Elizabeth Metzger
In this tiny lesson, we will consider metaphors and a fresh way to make them for the New Year!
As we step into the year, we reflect and invite new versions of our lives and worlds. These so-called new year’s resolutions may be equally important as metaphors for meeting the selves we already are, the ancient if hidden urges within each of us. Our wishes to change are also a way to sharpen our attention and appreciate our present. The goals we fix on as individuals are also shared illusions, beckoning us to trust personal and collective desires. In this tiny lesson, we will consider how to make a metaphor that honors this fluidity, complexity, and magnitude, celebrating meaning as surprising and wide-eyed revelation rather than willful or narrowed-down resolution.
